Knitting Projects for Mums to Be

We think becoming a mum for the first time brings with it a wonderful opportunity to indulge your creativity by making some of the softest, loveliest and indeed smallest knitted goodies around.

With that in mind we’ve done some digging across the internet and collected some of our favourite knitting patterns and projects perfect for mums intent on stocking up the nursery with toys, clothes and blankets ready for the arrival of your little one.

First up is this adorable, knitted rabbit (for which you can find the pattern and instructions right here):

We think this would be perfect knitted with Sirdar Snuggly Snowflake wool, which is a chunky knit weight and offers a fleecy softness perfect for a baby’s delicate skin.

Other thinks you might like to have a bash at making for baby’s arrival are knitting projects like this really cute baby’s blanket and bib set from Sirdar using snuggly baby DK knit yarn?

Then of course there are endless opportunities for making your new arrival clothes – you can knit (or sew) just about anything and everything from socks and hats to cardigans, jumpers and scarves!

Speaking of sewing, if you indeed are more of a sewer than a knitter (and you’re feeling rather ambitious) how about attempting to sew your own baby bag?

You can add as many or as few compartments as you like, with dedicated pockets for bottles, zip compartments for smaller bits and pieces like dummies and of course you can choose the fabric to suit you – freeing you up from the standard links, blues and yellows! How about attempting something like this baby bag complete with changing mat as well?

You can find a full set of very thorough instructions to make this bag just here, and if you’re interested in a few different fabric choices then why not take a look what we have in store at the moment.

Those are just a few of the patterns and ideas we have come across recently that would make the perfect addition to your baby’s nursery.

Have you found any baby sewing or baby knitting projects online that you have attempted? Let us know.
