I have been saying for some time now that if things don’t go to plan, just change the plan!
One thing that did not go to plan was how Needlecase would function after we relocated from Yorkshire to Northumberland.
I had thought that I would continue running workshops but maybe fewer than I was used to and that I would look to expand the range of yarns that I stocked on the website. Only really lovely ones though! and maybe do more online workshops and knit alongs.
As things turned out, I was limited to running workshops and the website has been restricted to selling patterns and online workshops only. This has actually been beneficial in a number of ways.

number one
I have been super busy with workshops on all my usual techniques.
Entrelac, modular knitting, fair isle knitting, brioche knitting, beginners knitting…
number two
I have discovered that I can manage to travel from my new home without finding it too tiring.
This means that I can run workshops close to home and also still go to my lovely Knitting Pretty, Ewe and Yarn and Duttons for Buttons.

number three
Enforced time limited to just running workshops has provided clarity about where I would like to take things moving forwards.
My workshops are definitely staying then.
I am busy writing some new ones.
When I get my studio set up I will be making more video tutorials to enhance the workshops.
My studio is also for me to spend time exploring other interests especially sewing.
BIG DECISION I HAVE MADE – I don’t feel like I need to sell yarn anymore and there is not enough space to store it in the studio anyway so it’s going back onto the website temporarily until it sells.
I have made a start on this.
All sock yarn is back online at £7 per 100g and will not be restocked when it sells out.

As I get chance I will follow on with more yarns from storage.
Looking forward to lots and lots of creative adventures 🙂
Last Friday I went to an excellent workshop at Drywater Arts in Amble and had lots of fun playing about with colour, making marbled papers and learning how to make this little book. Making it reminded me that I had done something similar before (at least 15 years ago). I need to find the book that I made then (still lots of unpacking to do!) and put it to some use because I am done with keeping things for something more special. Watch this space!
