Blanket News

I thought it was way past time that I did an update about my 2020 knit-a-long !!

This project has been a massive success as far as I’m concerned.

My wish was to provide an opportunity for knitters to knit-a-long together, even though we are apart, and for the process to be as accessible as possible. I wanted people to be able to enjoy it whatever their level of skill or experience.

I am thrilled to currently have a list of 72 people taking part.

Some are making 2 blankets.

Some are learning lots.

Some are developing my ideas and creating their own designs.

Some people are posting lots of updates in the Facebook group, whilst others are watching and observing and encouraging everyone else. If someone asks for an opinion or help at any stage there is plenty of positive engagement to be had.

It was a massive learning curve for me to create all the video tutorials (some are more educational than others!) and I now feel that I can build on this experience to produce some more similar projects when it’s appropriate.

Another brilliant part of this experience was that, before we shared the patterns with all the participants, Diane (Knitting Pretty), Sharon (Ewe and Yarn) and I tested knitted the blanket.

In effect we had our own mini-knit a long and it was an absolute pleasure to work together with these 2 lovelies.

I did get a bit giddy just before we started the knit-a-long and made this rather exuberant little welcome video.

A little bit of silliness from the 3 of us!!

We are just about at the half-way point now and I am really loving seeing the blankets that are being produced.

Here’s a look at our test knits.

I am working on a new colour scheme for my newest blanket.

I would really love to do a blog when we have finished and show the world all the fantastic blankets that are being knitted ready for Christmas Eve.
